I have worked in various settings over the course of my 25+ year career in education. I recently returned to working in the private preschool setting where my career started many years ago and I couldn’t be happier! In the summers, I teach continuing education classes at Trinity College which is fun too. When my children were little, I had the opportunity to be a parent in a co-op for my own children. I saw first-hand how special it can be to see your child in a school setting, work closely with teachers and other parents and be such a big part of the classroom community. That is why I’m thrilled to be a part of such a warm and welcoming community here at SNS.
I am excited to be working with the 4 and 5-year olds again. They make me laugh every day. Having taught Kindergarten, Transition-Kindergarten, Transition-1st Grade, as well as Pre-K, I am able to prepare them for Kindergarten in a fun and play-based environment. Through the use of intentional planning, songs, rhymes, stories, art projects, STEM projects and free choice centers, the children will learn phonemic awareness, concepts about print, social-emotional skills, as well as gross and fine motor skills. They will get to explore their worlds (both indoor and outdoor) in a safe environment to help them learn how to enter play, work out conflicts, investigate possible solutions to become problem solvers and gain the confidence and skills they need to become positive members of society.
